Grysbok Environmental Education Trail
NMMU in Port Elizabeth offers game drives, in what is probably a South African first for a university, through its premises within a 720-hectare nature reserve on the southern tip of Algoa Bay.
The coastal fynbos / subtropical thicket mosaic , which is the largest area of protected dune fynbos in the country, is home to a myriad of antelope, Zebra and fascinating bird species like the rare Roseate Tern and even predators like Caracal.
The tours, led by FGASA registered field guide Alan Fogarty, include
a visit to the 158-year-old Cape Recife lighthouse.
NMMU registered students qualify for a discount on these tours - with a minimum of 4 passengers per tour.
